How did you train and get prepare for Duathlon ORIGIN at this current situation (having social distancing measures in place)?
Since the covid outbreak last year, circuit breaker and with all the race cancellations which followed the focus has been on mixing it up and having as much fun in and around training. This also means that race specific training is not the priority at the moment but my awr cycling team mates (@alliedworldracing) keep me on my toes (or pedals) and my coach tim (@koasports01) brings it all together to still have a good go as races such as this duathlon are coming back.
Due to the rolling start, the Duathlon format is very much like a time trial format. Does this change your race strategy? How or why not?
I think this is a big plus for the fairness on the bike course. Rolling starts have become the norm for many middle and long-distance tris. Although it is a bit sad not to have a“race to the line” (and not to be able to high five my kids…)!
What is your target?
Go out, smash it and have fun! If I can be part of the overall podium again that would be the icing on the cake!
What are you looking forward to for this upcoming Duathlon ORIGIN event?
It’s great to have races back and event organizers are going the extra mile to make this happen and have all the measures in place to keep everyone safe and at the same time allow people to enjoy racing, get out there and have a small goal to prepare for.
